Owner Operator Flatbed Driver

The purpose of a flatbed owner-operator CDL truck driver is to efficiently and safely transport goods while managing the responsibilities of owning and operating a small business in the transportation industry.

 

Owner Operators run under the company's authority.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Hauling construction materials, lumber, steel, granite or other materials requiring flatbed transport.

  • Load Securement: Safely and securely load and unload cargo onto the flatbed truck using appropriate equipment and techniques. Ensure all cargo is secured correctly and balanced to prevent shifting during transit.

  • Professional communication with customers and dispatch.

  • Knowledge of load securement and tarping/strapping.

  • On time for pickup and delivery.

  • Knowledge of HOS.

  • Maintenance and Inspection: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the flatbed truck and trailer to ensure roadworthiness. Perform routine maintenance tasks and promptly report any mechanical issues or malfunctions.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records and documentation, including driver logs, mileage records, delivery receipts, and other paperwork required by regulatory agencies and company policies.

 

Experience & Qualifications:  

  • Valid CDL Class A and Med Card.

  • Minimum of 1-year experience driving and six months of hauling flatbed. 

  • Worked for two or fewer companies in the past year.

  • There have been less than two moving violations in the last three years.
